Bolton's Alonso could be out for six weeks

Bolton could be without Marcos Alonso for six weeks after he injured his foot in the win over Blackburn.

The Spaniard missed nearly four months of the season after breaking a bone in his foot in a Carling Cup tie against Mansfield in August.

He started his first Barclays Premier League match against Fulham last weekend but suffered a setback when he was forced off in the 2-1 win over Blackburn on Tuesday.

Bolton manager Owen Coyle revealed the 20-year-old ex-Real Madrid player will need surgery, adding: "There was no new fracture as such, but the pin that was inserted to heal the original fracture has taken a knock and that needs to be replaced.

"He is set to be out for six weeks but we are hoping it will be less than that. We can't be sure right now because the operation will take place today and we will take it from there.

"Marcos came in for the Fulham game and looked so confident and assured the other night at Blackburn.

"When he comes back fit and available he will be ready to kick-on and have a terrific career."
